David Brotherton is the founder and president of Brotherton Strategies, a Seattle-based communications firm serving a mix of mission-driven, socially-responsible corporate, philanthropic and non-profit clients.
David is a communicator of conscience and practitioner with principles who has spent 20 years in public affairs and public relations framing complex issues, communicating corporate values and articulating persuasive messages. Through writing, research, evaluation, strategic planning and media relations, Brotherton Strategies helps its clients advance business objectives, foster positive social change, and influence public opinion.
Before founding his own firm, David was director of communications for the Marguerite Casey Foundation, a grantmaker supporting the economic and social empowerment of low-income families and communities nationwide. He previously served as vice president of public affairs for Imagio | J. Walter Thompson; as director of public relations for RealNetworks; and as a senior writer and account executive with the Gogerty Stark Marriott agency.
David began his career in Washington, DC, where he worked first as a Congressional staffer and later a political reporter. He has also served on numerous political campaigns at the federal, state and local levels.
David earned his bachelor’s degree from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, OR and did his masters work in journalism at the University of Oregon. He currently serves on the boards of the Communications Leadership Institute and 826 Seattle, the region’s only center dedicated to helping young people improve their expository and creative writing skills.

Anne Green is a consultant and attorney with extensive experience in the integration of communications and grantmaking strategies.
Anne is the former program director at the Benton Foundation in Washington, DC, where she helped launch several major initiatives aimed at building the communications capacity of nonprofit organizations. Prior to Benton, Anne worked at People for the American Way developing and implementing national public education campaigns that combined elements of grassroots organizing, media, and research. Anne graduated from Wellesley College and earned her JD at The University of North Carolina. She serves on the Board of Directors for OneNW.

Cynthia Scheiderer is a strategist, researcher, educator, and facilitator who has worked with foundations, technology companies, and nonprofits. Cynthia helps organizations understand, influence, and engage the public by asking great questions and skillfully including multiple perspectives and interests.
Working with foundations and nonprofits over the past six years, she has researched and developed outreach initiatives that include grassroots organizing, technology, storytelling, media, and policy components. She is a former director of public affairs and communications at Casey Family Programs in Seattle, Washington, where she built a community outreach function, led the start-up of a national consumer advocacy group, and managed grants focused on constituency organizing.
Prior to this, Cynthia spent seven years in the high-tech industry, including five years at Adobe Systems, during which she managed teams and initiatives in customer support, knowledge management, education, training, business development, and consulting. Cynthia earned her bachelor's degree in communications from California State University, Fullerton, and her master's degree in education from Seattle University.

Alice Skipton, a consultant for Brotherton Strategies, brings a healthy blend of passion, diligence and cheer to any project.
Alice has more than eight years of experience in the communications field. Before becoming a consultant, Alice worked for Casey Family Programs, the largest national foundation focused solely on improving the lives of youth in foster care. She has moved missions forward with her story-telling skills. She naturally looks at the broad view and then minds the details to complete a project. Her experience includes strategic planning, media relations, writing and editing, internal communications, event management, program evaluation, and company branding. For Casey, she helped tell the foster care story in a number of ways including the creation of an award-winning short film.
Alice holds a master of fine arts degree in creative writing from Penn State University. Her artistic background provides a solid foundation for thinking creatively and then carving a path to results. Her bilingual skills—speaking, reading, and writing Spanish—have added value and fostered relationships in her foundation work.
